Food self-sufficiency is the focus of Burundi's presentation at EXPO 2000. In the small central African country it is equated with prosperity. The aim is to achieve this prosperity without damaging the environment. Traditional medicine - protecting certain medicinal herbs -, switching from large to small livestock breeding, the utilisation of swamps for farming, and the use of natural materials for wickerwork plays a major role.

Together with the country's works of art, musical instruments and medicinal plants, photographs of animals, tree species and landscapes illustrate the theme of this presentation.
