The Nile - Egypt's lifeline

Nation: Egypt
National Day: 23.07.00

The country on the Nile River is the origin of one of the world's first highly advanced civilisations. Still today the river is the country's lifeline and it will play a large role in the further development of Egypt. For this reason it is the main theme of the pavilion. Visitors are guided from the past into the future and through the various types of countryside which influence life on the Nile. Coast, riverbank, the rich farmland in the Nile Valley and the desert can be discovered during a sensuous journey.

Music, scents and light installations accompany visitors on their tour through the long history. A key element of the exposition is the presentation of projects on the reclamation of the desert, renewable energies and organic farming.
