Colombia

Steel and teak

Nation: Colombia
National Day: 20.07.00

Extensive rainforests and state-of-the-art technology centres, unspoiled nature and huge metropolises - these antagonisms, which are characteristic of the South American country, also find their expression in the Colombian pavilion. The building, whose numerous pillars will make visitors think of a forest, combines modern and natural building materials: the 20 steel bases merge into a teakwood construction that supports the roof of the pavilion.

The country's presentation entitled "Technology, Environment and Development" is located on eight areas that show ways in which nature and development can be combined harmoniously in Colombia. Special themes include the indigenous cultures and the development of sciences and of local business enterprises. Interactive media make it easier for visitors to examine individual themes.
