Information under a Shady Tree

Nation: Dominican Republic
National Day: 05.06.00

The tree stands in the centre of the exposition of the Dominican Republic. In this Latin American country, it is regarded as a "friend": it offers humankind the material it needs to build a home, the firewood it needs to cook a meal, and the shade it likes to have when resting after work.

The exposition is comprised of two areas: an oversized map of the country is portrayed on a wall on the exterior of the building. Monitors installed in the wall show films on carnival festivities and provide information on history, the countryside and culture. A large tree inside the building attracts the most attention in the pavilion. Visitors can rest in its shade and view various aspects of everyday life in the Dominican Republic: life in the country and in the city and also diverse musical shows.
