Melodical fruit

Nation: Jamaica
National Day:

When Jamaica obtained political independence at the beginning of the 1960s, it was seen by the rest of the world as an exotic, albeit small, poor island that was the favored target of pirates. Within twenty years, Jamaica reached out from its isolation to millions of people around the world with a new sound: Reggae music.

Jamaica contributes its music to the joint presentation of CARICOM in Hanover. Prominent in the exhibition are the Rastafarian colors green, red and gold. The Ackee tree, with its edible fruit, is characteristic of the Jamaican landscape. The tree presented here is not real, yet its fruit offers other enjoyments: pull a fruit down and listen - you will hear many examples of Reggae music.
