Ecotourism in the rainforest

"Brunei Darussalam" means "haven" or "the abode of peace". The sultanate on the South China Sea owes its prosperity, first and foremost, to oil production. Forests cover about 80 per cent of Brunei. The rainforest as the basis of life for current and for future generations, therefore, is the central theme of this presentation at EXPO 2000.

A concept for ecotourism has been created to help utilise the tropical forest and at the same time protect it against damage by mass tourism. Visitors will also be able to find out more about social and economic life in the small sultanate.
