The Art of Living in Harmony

Nation: India
National Day: 15.08.00

The Indian pavilion welcomes you from afar. A 12 metre-high steel construction represents the traditional gesture of folded hands, the Indian welcome "Namaskar" which means: I greet the divine within you.

India presents itself as a country that achieves excellent results in science and technology without renouncing the richness of its religious and spiritual traditions.

The ground plan of the pavilion is a reproduction of a mandala. From the outer to the inner space, layer by layer as it were, the visitors work their way to the core of the presentation: "The Art of living in harmony". On the philosophical base of great world religions - Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, Sikh religion - seeming inconsistencies are brought into accord: from the Himalayas to the ocean, from the big bang to the digital era.
