Chinese, Malay and Indian influences - Singapore bears the imprint of many cultures. Singapore's pavilion mirrors the harmonious communion of cultures as part of "New Asia". The visitors are invited to a journey through the past and future of the island state at the tip of the Malaysian peninsula.
On the way through an imaginary rainforest, a video-show tells the country's story from being a British colony to becoming an independent state. Visions of the future and development projects are presented by computer animation. On the pavilion's roof terrace, the visitors can relax underneath palm trees. Here grows the national flower of Singapore, the "Vanda Miss Joaquim" orchid.
