Have you always wanted to look a country really deep in its eyes? Then you must visit the exhibition of the Slovakian Republic, and take a look at the world of yesterday and today with the "magic eye". First you go into the eye of the past, a cylindrical metal tube. Here a two-minute film illustrates the damage caused by human interference with nature: acid rain, radioactive contaminated landfills, polluted rivers and seas and cleared forests.
Slovakia's attempts to do something about environmental destruction are then shown in the eye of the future. This is stage-managed by art and architecture exhibits: the focal point of the exhibition consists of a pulsating glass object portraying an eye from which (tears) water flows. This symbolises the source of life.
Video clips invite the visitor to discover the natural beauties of the region and act as appetisers for a journey into the Danube valley, a health holiday in the Carpathian mountains or walking holidays in the high Tatra.
