Jordan
A picture made of many stones
Jordan's contribution to EXPO 2000 has depth. Like archaeologists on an excavation site visitors can move down a few steps to search and find without a predetermined route.

A three-dimensional mosaic of pillars and blocks symbolises the variety of influences that characterise the traditions and history of the country located at the intersection of Mediterranean and Southern Arabian culture. The hopes of its people for the future also find their expression here. The mosaic is designed by painters and sculptors, schoolchildren, students and craftspersons. The Jordanian National Gallery and the Ministry of Education organised corresponding competitions. The contributions form a garden of sculptures in which reproductions of well-known archaeological finds can also be seen.

Recommendation for children and teenagers: How come Twipsy, the camel, and your own name is inside a bottle filled with desert sand? In the open Jordanian pavilion craftsmen demonstrate how decorative glass flacons are filled with coloured desert sand. You may also have your name spelled out with sand. With a special liquid the name is than fixed eternally.
