Switzerland
An orchestral pavilion

The Swiss pavillion is a declaration of authenticity and is in conscious contrast with artificiality. Like in a wood store beams are piled up, forming a complex construction of entrances, yards and rooms - 3000 cubic metres of timber. The freshly cut beams can thus dry out during the World Exposition. The "Musical instrument Switzerland" is a complete work of art, in which content and form, architecture, music, literature and gastronomy are theatrically arranged. While strolling around, the visitor encounters accordion and dulcimer players, as well as soloists creating unusual sounds. Each room has individual acoustics to accommodate the specially composed music. Words and texts are displayed on the timber walls in illuminated lettering and are designed to awaken associations in the visitor. The visitor can literally lose himself at the Swiss presentation - in different places, in sounds and in words.
