The more than seventy Finnish birches stand on real forest ground - with moss from Lapland, bilberry bushes, wild strawberries and big stones. Three wood staircases in an airy height lead through the cool birch grove and connect the two parts of the building.
The blueprint of the Finnish presentation is characteristic for the forward-looking design by the Scandinavian country. The facade made of "thermowood", for instance, is made long-lasting by way of a novel thermal treatment without poisonous wood preservatives.
Idea for children and teenagers: The ideas of Finnish children were realised in a fairy tale play world with wooden sauna of children's size, sounding mushrooms and a virtual reindeer which can be lured and shoed away. You will meet funnily dressed, real figures, for instance a postman. On a video camera children and youngsters can leave greetings which will be projected in various places around the pavilion, for instance in the oversized guest book.
