Georgia
The interface between East and West
Georgia is opening up to the world. The small Caucasian country marks the end of Asia and the beginning of Europe - or vice versa? That is why Georgia intends to use its open pavilion to connect both continents at the EXPO and present itself as a European-Asian turntable.

The focus will be the idea of the 'new silk route', which Georgia is hoping will not only lead to an extension of the transport and trade connections but also to a cultural exchange as well as a stabilisation of the Caucasian region. Several projects such as the construction of a pipeline to the Black Sea and the modernisation of the ports of Poti and Batumi will be presented. The important influence of the silk route in the past is documented by the historical review of Georgia's heyday in the 12th and 13th centuries.
