Sweden
"Bridges of Knowledge"
The motto of the Swedish Pavilion is: "Bridges of Knowledge". It resembles a jewellery case: black outside and light inside. Three sides are panelled with wood. A glass front makes insights and outlooks possible - views into the big exhibition hall and views onto the outside grounds with a "summer restaurant" and an open-air theatre. There the visitors are offered new Swedish cooking and a lot of music every day.

High above, under the ceiling, a "Bridge of Knowledge" made of light is floating above an installation which represents the artistic, mental and technical abilities of humankind - openness, thinking, co-operation, creativity. At the long back wall of the presentation, Swedish design and industrial design on environmental issues complements the overall concept.

The pavilion, which is surrounded by a water canal, was erected according to Agenda 21 and will remain there as a shop window for the Swedish economy after the world exposition.

Idea for children and teenagers: Computer games in English and a showcase with smart inventions of Swedish children - for example a stick with magnet and light to look for lost sewing needles in the dark behind the settee - may be entertaining for younger visitors.
