Libya
Man-made river
Usually water flows through the pipeline to be visited at Libya's stand. Libya presents the project of a river made by humans, the "Great Man-Made River". The original pipeline section of the possibly largest water conduit in the world has a diameter of four metres. Water coming from natural resources located in great depth below the Sahara is transported almost 2,000 kilometres through the desert and it now supplies towns located on the Libyan coast as well as agriculture.

Lybia is at present enlarging its tourism sector as an alternative to the oil industry. Untouched beaches on the Mediterranean, historical sites like Kyrene or the ancient town of Tripolis and fascinating, far-stretching deserts form suitable preconditions for this endeavour. Visitors can already enjoy traditional Arab hospitality at the EXPO.
