Trinidad and Tobago
Oil drums turn into musical instruments
Life on the Caribbean islands of Trinidad and Tobago is closely linked to oil production - the leading economic sector of the islands. Even music was originally played on oil barrels. The instruments known today as steeldrums used to be the metal lids of oil barrels. If you like the sound, why not try these instruments for yourself? Oil barrels are stacked in several levels to serve as a screen for video and slide presentations. The lowest level contains surprises for children. Tobago features underwater attractions: films of the coral reefs are presented on video monitors.
