Nature reserves and national parks make up 15 per cent of Venezuela's surface. The South American country has an extremely diverse flora and fauna. The protection of this range of varieties and the vast water and energy reserves provides the focal point of the presentations in the 'A Venezuelan flower for the world' pavilion.

An 18 metre high flower towers above the building. Its ten metre long petals are opened and closed according to the weather. The presentation itself is an example of the country's biological diversity: thousands of tropical plants and numerous exotic fish form part of the exhibition in the glass pavilion. The architecture is reminiscent of the four terraces of a 'Tepuy', a typical of the region where the three countries Venezuela, Brazil and Guyana meet.
